The Illinois & Michigan (I&M) Canal wasn't built by machines – it was built by hand, by thousands of laborers, immigrants and local families who dug, hauled and worked their way through the Illinois prairie to connect the country. Lock by lock, mile by mile, it was hard work and a shared purpose that built something lasting. That spirit still runs through Morris today.
